About Me

Hi, I’m James, a professional musician and drum teacher in Bristol, UK.

Having played for 13 years, I have dedicated half of my life to the drums and have over 8 years’ experience in live performance with various different bands across many genres. I currently play in 3 bands that perform live shows on a regular basis so I am no stranger to the world of performing.

I studied Professional Musicianship at the British and Irish Modern Music (BIMM) Institute in Bristol from 2018 to 2021 and graduated with first-class honours. During my time at BIMM, I have had the pleasure of studying under some of the UK’s top professional drummers including, James Hester (Cars On Fire, Rhythm Magazine), Mark Whitlam (Freelance Jazz Drummer), and Any Sutor (John Parish, Emily Breeze). I have also taken further instruction from international artists and drummers such as Ralph Rolle (Nile Rodgers and Chic), Gabor Dornyei (Clinician, Thunder Duo), and Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown).

As part of my degree, I studied music teaching practice, a masterclass focusing on the key aspects of one-to-one and classroom music teaching that focuses on the needs of the student and their learning styles.
